Snowmageddon - December 14th, 2010

In my last blog, I described the drive to Michigan as an "easy hour" from my home.  But I realized that some people - namely the 237 motorists who were trapped along it during a snowstorm one year ago today - may be choking on their coffees in shock at my understatement.  So here, in remembrance of last's year's stranded motorists, I give you - "Snowmageddon".

  2. Bloody hell - that is crazy. If anything on that scale happened in the UK, everyone would just lie in their cars and die. We are pathetic like that when it comes to slightly adverse weather!

So have you got off more lightly this year chick?!

  3. When I see pictures like these, I'm not so unhappy with our temps in the low 70s!

  4. This year has been mild and rainy so far. We might even have a green Christmas :(

  9. I remember this. but in my neck of the woods it ended up being "snowbigdeal". I have however experienced this first hand. pregnant and shovelling out my driveway so I could get to my Ob appt. Ah, Canada, I stand with shovel in hand for thee.

  10. Holy crap! My little California weather weenie heart is in shock. You people must be really freakin' tough. Remind me never to get in a bar fight with you.

  11. You shovelled while pregnant?! I remember getting stuck in the snow on my way home from my daughter's two-week-old check-up. I had to walk the 1/2 mile home, carrying her in my arms. The snow was coming down so heavy, I had to keep wiping it off the blanket covering her face as I was afraid of her smothering!

  12. I just saw a special on this on the Weather Channel. As a person who has lived in Minnesota all her life and seen some pretty wicked storms myself, I cannot imagine being stuck in that mess!

  13. I'm always amazed when I see photos like those. Being raised in Houston, snow is something we see hardly ever. And the rare times we get even an inch, the city shuts down, literally.

  14. If we should ever be in a bar together, I promise not to pick a fight with you. :)

  15. You watch the Weather Channel? Minnesota must be like Canada where the weather's always big news and a popular topic of conversation.

  16. I'd give anything for even an inch right now. We can't have a green Christmas! We just can't!
