I've been a fan of SNL's ever since, and although nothing can hold a candle to the early days and original cast, every now and then the show still comes up with a real spark of genius. Here's a little gem from last weekend that I want to share with you. Enjoy!

SNL Skit - Tell Him with Kristen Wiig
I used to spend my Saturday nights with Jane (you ignorant slut) Curtin and Dan (you pompous ass) Aykroyd, along with the hilarious Gilda Radner, John Belushi and the rest of the original cast of Saturday Night Live. All in all, it wasn't bad company for a 14-year-old babysitter.

Too funny. I haven't watched SNL in years, but used to love the original cast. Not too long ago, I provided a link on my blog to one of the more recent skits, the NPR parody featuring Alec Baldwin talking about Schweddy Balls. I thought it was hilarious, but almost everyone avoided making any comments about it. I guess it (ahem) wasn't in the best taste. Or maybe they didn't watch it. Yeah, that must be it ...
ReplyDeleteMy very first blog post featured the video of the Schweddy Balls skit! Great minds! :)
ReplyDeleteVery funny! Perhaps more truth in there than we'd like to admit......
ReplyDeleteI've been an SLN fan since the beginning, too. Thanks for posting this. I hadn't seen it. Nothing will ever top the original cast, but each year has always produced some amazing stand out talent. I think Kristin Wiig is going to be a huge star.
ReplyDeleteThat was funny! I liked the original show, too, and quit watching over the years, but I'm always happy to see a good skit. Thanks for posting this.
ReplyDeletePretty good. That is so right on about the video games. I don't watch any of the new shows.
ReplyDeleteShucks. The video isn't coming out in my monitor :(
ReplyDeleteHave you seen her in Bridesmaids? It's the funniest thing I've seen in a long time.
ReplyDeleteI had quit watching too, but as I'm spending more and more Saturday nights at home, I've been catching more shows.
ReplyDeleteHere's the You Tube link, it should work. http://youtu.be/91rufbk_Z50
ReplyDeleteSince my son moved out, there's no more video games being played around here. A bit of Spider Solitaire and Mahjong, but that's it.
ReplyDeleteI was late to the party and just saw "Bridesmaids" last week. Hysterical and so on point. I'm afraid I saw myself way too many times. :)
ReplyDeleteI used to love the old SNL, the first few years. There were no bad characters. Sadly, these days, not so much. But the clip was cute. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI especially loved Gilda Radner's characters. No one since has even come close to replacing her.
ReplyDeleteHILARIOUS!!! i LOVE SNL!!!! This made my day.
ReplyDeleteMy faves are when the do the debates. Those crack me up everytime:) Have a great day!
I loved it! Thank you for that! I'm gonna share it with my girlfriends!
