Sanity Restored

Yeah!  It happened!  They told me it would, but I doubted them.  Seriously doubted them!  I mean, it just began to seem like too much to ask for, like an impossible dream.  I lost hope.  Truly.  I began to feel like nothing would ever change, that I'd be buried under this mountain of icy oppression forever.  But it happened!  Want to see what I'm going on about?  Look!

The snow has all but disappeared!!!!!!

If you think I'm a tad off-kilter by being so excited by this, you need to understand that in early December, my area got a record-breaking snowfall of 143 cm (that's over 4' for my American friends) in just 2 days.  And it never left!!  For those of you who can't wrap your sun-soaked minds around it, I've provided these visual aids:  (go ahead - click on them to enlarge and appreciate in their fullest)

My back door

Our back deck.  We had to shovel a path so poor Bojangles could go out to do his business.  This photo is a little deceiving so you'll have to trust me, - Bo is not a mutant miniture spaniel - that snow was deep!

And this photo I've stolen from the local paper.  It gives you an idea of what our snowbanks looked like:

Now, besides restoring my sanity, this thaw has also resolved two of my pressing problems.  First, my husband can finally unroll his Giant Thing-A-Ma-Bob (my, that does sound naughty, doesn't it?).  And second, we can finally poop scoop the yard and remove those tempting poopsicles which have been fueling Bojangle's addiction. (see My Dirty Little Secret).

It's a good day.

  4. 74 degrees today. In the 50s tomorrow. But, that's okay. The white crap is all gone (leaving me with decidedly mushy BROWN crap to deal with).

  5. I can so relate!! we just shoveled a path to the BBQ (priorities, eh?!) and let the rest pile. Our front banks were so high from shoveling the driveway, the kids were sledding down them!! But now....just one poor lopsided snowman slowly shrinking is all that tells the tale.

  10. It has indeed been a brutal winter and it is good to see the ground again...even if it is a little muddy. Isn't it funny that thedirty snow is always the last to melt ;)

  15. Oh my gosh, those pics are unbelievable! Made me feel a little guilty for how much I complained about the relatively small amount of snow we had here, yikes. So glad you are seeing green again. Happy Spring! :)
